Unique Learners
We believe every child is unique. But for us, “unique abilities” refers to students who push the boundaries of “average.” They are students with learning disorders, autism, Down syndrome, twice exceptional or profoundly gifted, English language learners, or other developmental and cognitive delays – just to name a few.
14% of K-12 students in the US are unique learners.
Disabilities are often invisible. Most of these students are able to meet the same achievement standards as all students if given the necessary services, supports, & accommodations.
Unique Learners experience higher outcomes when they spend more time in general education classrooms.
Students with disabilities are often subjected to questionable discipline tactics. But when the data isn't reported, it's difficult to advocate effectively for these students.
